So, I finally got my Riolu egg from Riley today (I'm playing through slowly because of all the breeding and training I've been doing on like twenty different monsters, and because I don't want to just blow through the game, but I digress). And I reset, and reset, and reset again until I could hatch a Riolu that was of Adamant nature. Finally got one, so phew there...

I'm wondering about its ability, though. The first couple of times I tried hatching, it had Steadfast as its ability, but after that, it kept hatching with Inner Focus instead. The competitive moveset guide on GameFAQs (this one right here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/946308/49990) suggests the former as the better ability to have. But, I'm not so sure, and I don't really want to reset a dozen more times just to try to get another Adamant-natured puppy with that particular ability.

Is Steadfast really that worth it? Both abilities deal with flinching; Steadfast triggers a Speed boost after experiencing a flinch and Inner Focus just prevents you from getting one in the first place. Is the use of something like Focus Punch so prevalent, or is having a 150% Speed boost that wonderful/necessary, to warrant dealing with one or more missed turns while battling? I'd really like some input before I go deciding anything, as I'm kind of torn between just saving the game and moving on or resetting again in hopes I'll get something better.

Thoughts, anybody? It'd be much appreciated...

There are no guarantees you'll be recced fics that you like, or even any at all, but hopefully people will be able to find something new and fun for the holidays!

I'm planning a raid on Monday to go drown Sartharion AND all three of his drakes in their own lava pit. At what point before the raid should I invite the people to the raid proper? If raids I've been on are any indication (sometimes 45 minutes between wipes on Ony 25 as people leave and we have to find more, others hearth to repair when no one has a Jeeves handy, etc, rebuffs, feasts, etc), is 1 hour too long to invite, assign people their targets and such, and so on?

And if you have any tidbits for something of this scale, I'd love to hear 'em. I've been looking on wowhead for the videos for an idea, since I haven't done it with -any- drakes up. So far my plan is four tanks, six healers, 7 melee DPS to beat on anything that's made of fire and 8 ranged for pincushion duty and popping Tranqs at enraged fire just in case. Should I go eight healers for two per tank? I've been told it's possible with only three heals, but I don't want to risk a massive case of healfail.

(And yes, I plan on gear checking and achievement linking, too...)

Hey guys! Sorry to return so soon, but starlitlady and I have joined forces to start up (and run!) a Fire Emblem Contest Community.

I'm sure you've seen others like it across LJ, but the basic idea is this: we run writing challenges with a specific deadline and specific (or not-so-specific!) rules. At the end of the deadline, the entries are voted on, and the winner gets a banner. (qieru has volunteered to be our banner-maker. If anyone else would like to volunteer to help, we'd appreciate it!)

Our first challenge runs through the 31st of this month, and we'd love to have some writers come and join us for the fun!

Fellow villains and evil-doers!

I wish to move myself, a Fire/Rad Corrupter, from Liberty to Justice or Triumph... but my name has been taken by some no-good heroes on those servers!

I globally contacted the Justice owner, but the Triumph owner gives no /getglobalname return... very odd (so I cannot contact them). Jaunts across the way being free now, I'd like to take that opportunity whilst available, and who knows if I will hear back from the name-holders before the end of the opportunity, so I am most likely due for a rename.

I am the villainous version of Virtue Rad/Rad Defender Burning Skies, a messenger sent to the past to try to get Earth residents to clean up their polluting ways and prevent nuclear destruction of the planet. No one believed me, of those that listened. I was shamed and scorned, mocked and ignored. So I set to scorch the earth myself!

Anyhow.

I implore your assistance in coming up with a new designation for myself. I would like to have some allusion to my past heroic self in this name. My Fire blasts are the same irradiated green-yellow that my Radiation powers are, and this is my appearance.

when i try to log onto WoW by clicking "Play" it does not launch.. i click "play" and the launcher just disappears .
repair does not work.
uninstalling + reinstalling entire game and patches, worked for a day then did not work any more.
upgraded to windows xp service pack 3 and updated my  norton software and still nothing

the game has been unplayable for about a week and a half now ...
it's very frustrating :(

So I just had an odd team breakdown moment, and I wanted to take the opportunity to poll the comm about the situation that caused it . . .

I was playing an AR/Traps corruptor on Triumph (a redside ghost town at the best of times), and had teamed up with a Dark Brute to run radio missions. They had all gone fine, and we had seemed pretty well in synch with only occasional strategizing required. I should probably mention that I'm used to playing with familiar LJ teammates much of the team, where a basic follow-the-leader, one-group-at-a-time strategy is pretty consistently followed. And even more of the time I'm playing in a duo where we have nearly identical play styles, and can more or less read one another's minds in terms of strategy, so I occasionally err on the side of too little communication when PUGing.

So i was reading an interview that wowhead blog has listed... most of it is a rehash of what we already know (can't people think of new questions? >.>), but two points I found rather interesting....


Will there be flying mounts that could take passengers in the future?

This is something we are planning on adding at some point in the future.

Will it be possible to add an "instance spectator" mode to the game?

This is a feature that we would like to add for both raids and Arenas in the future.

On December 7th Game Informer released an article with a few quotes from Hideki Kamiya in which he speaks about sequels to his games (including Viewtiful Joe):

"I don't have the rights to any of the IPs that I've made," Kamiya explained. "They belong to the companies that publish them, and they're a business so they have a right to exploit those IPs as they want.... However, to be completely honest, I'd love to do them myself."

Asked which IPs in particular Kamiya would like to revisit, he clarified:

"Up until very recently I really felt someday I wanted to make a sequel to Okami, and there were others who wanted me to as well. But then the other day I heard the announcement that someone else would be making a sequel and now I'm just not interested in it anymore. Once someone else touches a world that you yourself created it stops being yours. There is no point in making a sequel when the world doesn't belong to you. Viewtiful Joe is probably all I've got left. That story is incomplete so I'd like to finish it someday. But that would probably be the most difficult one to do [laughs]."

Hopefully some day Capcom will let Platinum Games/Kamiya work on 3!

Okay! Just bought a new widescreen TV (720p) and I'm having a bit of trouble with the channel screen continuously flashing.

I still have my normal RCA cables that came standard with the console and it seems to work fine when I play a game (VC or Disc). The resolution options don't change much, either.

Any pointers as to what may solve that blinking problem?

Out of curiousity, has anyone else gotten the ocassional critical error from WoW since 3.3? Just since 3.3 came out I've been getting them periodically, from doing things as simple as just logging in and standing in Silvermoon. I looked up the Error Reports and googled the first four lines, finding a wealth of posts on the Technical Support forums @ the official website. The majority of them are similar (if not the exact) as mine, and the solutions in every thread tend to be "delete your WTF, Cache and AddOns folders". I've done that and ran the WoW Repair tool, but I still get the errors. I think I'm going to have to dig around a little deeper and see what's going on, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this error - specifically, since 3.3's release. My assumption is that if anyone has it's been sparse or they found a fix for it that worked otherwise they'd have probably polled people here like I'm doing, but I figure it can't hurt.

I suppose my next step is going to be posting my error log and dxdiag to the Technical Support forums, but I anticipate being told to "clear my WTF, Cache and AddOns folders". Can't hurt to see what happens, though.

the Tech Support forum is scary. From the handful of threads I read it seems like there's a lot of "hey-I-know-more-about-computers-than-you-so-shut-up-hey-no-YOU-shut-up-no-YOU!" there.

EDIT: I have a question- is it possible to make a useful tank Togekiss? I checked the IVs of one that I'm keeping and it has either 30 or 31 in both HP and Def, and about 26 in S.Def... Both it's attack IVs suck pretty bad, it's Timid and knows Hustle. Any thoughts?

Since healer horror stories from the new LFG system are always fun I thought I'd share mine from yesterday. Yesterday I figured I'd take a break from my main server and go pick up a couple of frosts on my paladin on Dawnbringer. Suffice to say, I didn't get them.

First random I pull is Oculus. Nobody's favorite but I figure I'll do it. The party is four death knights and right away the problems start. The tank pulls before I've even finished buffing and topping off mana and for the next two pulls completely fails to round up the mobs in any kind of meaningful way. With whelps constantly bombarding me all I can say is thank goodness for Beacon of Light. Everyone in the party is taking massive damage on every pull, to the point where I'm having to stop and drink after every pull. (Usually I can go through an entire instance without ever drinking once.) And seriously, four death knights and none of them can interrupt a trash mob's channeled cast? Please. Finally we finish one pull with me at about 2000 mana from all the insane damage and I say that I'm stopping for mana. The tank charges down the platform anyway, pulls, and they wipe. I drop group at that point.

Next random is Halls of Reflection. We make it to the third wave and then wipe. Everyone then stands there without bandaging or eating, expecting me to heal them to full. I politely say in chat that it would be much faster if they would sit and eat rather than waiting for me to mana up, heal them all, then mana up again. Every_single_member of the group responds with "I have no food." Or "lol no food." When the warlock finally says "I'm too cheap to buy food lol." I reply "Why should that be my problem?" and drop group. Maybe that was uncalled for, but at this point I was tired of being expected to do everything for everyone.

I went back to my main server, leaving my poor pally to go hungry on emblems that day.

EDIT:: I forgot to mention that after the wipe in HoR they asked me why I wasn't using Turn Undead to fear the mobs. I had to explain to them that the fear has a 1.35 second cast time, during which they will not get healed and they will die. Seriously, who asks a healer to do things like that? Most groups I'm in I get yelled at just for dropping a judgment to increase my spell haste and these guys want me to stop healing and cast fear?

Could someone please trade me any event Celebi, as long as it says "fateful encounter" I don't care if its Pokesaved or Cloned. As for what I can offer, ask? Atsu/ 0431 8116 4206 ONLINE NOW
